Why is AF such a hot cake in town?! Its probably not only thanks to the student’s talents but because it appeals to the Malaysian audience! Period. Aside from the obvious, its about togetherness, caring, drama, connecting with the audience and creating the success story everyone dreams about!

Channel 15. Its because of Channel 15 that people get so attracted to the lives and personalities of the students. In no other reality show (expect for Big Brother which is not shown here) that people can tune in to the lives of their favorite pelajar. That I think gets people all wrapped up because they get to see them “grow” over time. Hence the attachment part takes place.

Kerjasama. The great thing about every AF concert is that you see all the students “helping” each other during performances…either by being back up singers, play instruments together, dance etc. Thats what the Malaysian spirit is all about, working together. This jives well with our cultures and people like that (I do too!)

FAMILY MAESTRO. I think we the whole instrastructure that Astro possesses, they have a great platform to launch the careers of not only the winner but the whole bunch. In most other competitions once the competitions is over, thats pretty much it. The winners go on doing their things BUT with AF you continously get to see them TOGETHER during hari raya, events etc. Again its that family togetherness that is greatly appealing to the Malaysian audience. Not only for 1 season but across the seasons as AF generations perform together.

SUCCESS STORY. Everyone loves fairly tales. And AF (and most other shows) do allow just about anyone (regardless of background) to shine. Welcome to Malaysia: the land of opportunity :)

All in all, most reality shows are very popular but no one comes close to AF as they have a recepi that really non other than Astro (in Malaysia) can pull off.

PS: This lil entry got its impiration from my involvement with AF this year as Cikgu Fitness :)

af is back? great! af fever is back! frankly, i’m not really into af, but i do remember that i cried when burn from af1 was voted out. MAESTRO PANDAI. they make af looks like big brother, and mtv it’s my life, to show the audience, perhaps the real things thats going on in other people’s lives – to make the audience feel connected to the contestants. MAESTRO PANDAI. they make it 100% sms voting and no professional judging. yeah, the professional does judges, and gives opinion, but that’s about it. i was on a reality tv show before. but it was 50% professional judge marks, and 50% sms voting – in that way i think it was quite fair. the best would be 100% judges marks so we have 100% quality not popularity. but if we think about it carefully, in reality, reality tv shows need the lowest budget to produce. the contestants are not paid ‘to act’, they only stand a chance to win. if they dun win, they might gain some fame, worst case scenario they’d get an AF mug and AF t-shirt in the end. the audience whom are emotionally connected to the contestants (whom could be a complete stranger to them) would spend hundreds if not thousands of ringgit just to feel the temporary high that their fave ‘shining’ star is not voted out that week. trust me, i’ve close relatives who were severely down with AF fever. so senang2 maestro made millions. MAESTRO PANDAI. it used to be 30 cents per sms vote, but now is 50 cents (or are they going to increase it again?) per sms. but the question is… what do the voters get back in return? when zahid from AF2 won, dia janji nak buat kenduri roti canai (if we could go to his kampung), mawi menang, buat kenduri doa selamat (if we could go to his kampung too) or something like that.. correct me if i’m wrong… but c’mon people.. you guys know what i mean rite? what do we get in return? ANYWAY…. before i get too carried away… the reality with akademi fantasia is not matter what my opinion about reality tv shows in malaysia especially this one, it does bring malaysia together. people will stay at home and watch it live on tv, knowing millions other malaysians are watching it too. to see Vince from af1 won, it shows that the malay dominated malaysia is open-minded, not racist, and voted for what i think is good singer without looking at the race. malaysia muhibbah!! whatever it is, i hope this time around, the winner of AF4 would be based on quality and not popularity! yeay!

I can’t say much about the show since I don’t watch it at all, but not only MAESTRO sahaja yang pandai, even ASTRO too, having AF forces the public to get ASTRO subscription and having seasons of AF will retain them wit ASTRO. But i think it’s good to push fitness towards the mass, and af is a great platform. im not a fan of the show at all, but seeing them having a hard time in the gym might be fun i guess, adding another spice to the show. i think…congrats kevin.

Kev.. first of all, congratulations on your appointment as Cikgu Fitness for those AF4 kids. Good luck with that. Guess you yourself is also qualified to be an AF4 student.. :-) Secondly, after that AF4 season ends, you have to be my cikgu fitness.. I have a problem with my own bod. Guess that’s my own fault after quitting my gym 2 years back. Now I really need to get in shape badly. Anyway, that RM150 charge/rate mentioned in matrition, is it a daily basis? or hourly ? Or monthly?Thirdly.. I’ve just added a link to your blog in my own blog. Have fun with AF4..

Wah, I was really suprised when I found out that you’ve been appointed as Cikgu Fitness AF! *gasp* CONGRATULATIONS!Only a few months ago I accidentally tersesat into your talentfactory site while searching for something on Google *wink*, and now tiba-tiba dah jadi ahli keluarga AF pulak. When I first heard the news, I was like, “What the fish head curry is he doing inside there?”. Hehehe. But anyways, I’ll definitely enjoy seeing you in action :P Trust me, you gonna be one of the reason why people do not want to miss watching AF. I actually know someone who have sworn that she will boycott this year’s AF, but changed her mind when I showed your photo. Haha. Am I a good publicist or what? ;)err.. Cikgu, tak boleh ke saya dapat free classes sbb dah tolong promote? (hehe.. just kidding la).
