Hello Wan,
Thats a good question. For this post, I am going to assume that by workout you are referring to “weight training” ….
For weight training, you MUST consume both – a pre and post workout meal. Otherwise your body wont have the energy it needs to execute the weight training movements and will break down other muscle tissues for energy – you dont want this to happen. (fyi, there is not enough time to break down fat tissues for energy)
What to eat for pre and post workouts?
I would recommend a 1:2 ratio of protein and carbohydrates. For me both meals are identical: about 20g of protein and 40g of carbohydrates per meal. I take whey protein as it digests quickly and a combination of complex and simple carbohydrates.
