The standard MHR or maximum heart rate for adult is MHR = 220 – age but some say for kids (and those above 60) it is not that accurate. The recommended formula here is [208 – (0.7 x Age)]
To example to compare the 2 formula for a 6 year old:
1) MHR = 220 – age = 220 – 6 = 214 beats per minute (bpm)
2) MHR = [208 – (0.7 x Age)] = 208 – (0.7 x 6) = 203.8 beats per minute (bpm)
From here you could stick with the typical 60-80% maximum training zones but I would not be too rigid when it comes to kids.
