HIIT is great but as you said, it can put a lot of train on your cardiovascular system, especially your heart and especially for beginners.
My advice: go at your own pace. I would NOT recommend HIIT training at 95% vVo2max for beginners especially if you are in your 40 and older. Also dont do the same HIIT routine day in and day out … mix it up. Also be sure to warm up properly as pushing your body anaerobically for sprints places a lot of sudden stresses on your muscles, joints etc.
For beginners, I would recommend keeping your heart rate at around 60-80% of its max through your training.

LikeDislikeKevin, can you share with us your experience with HIIT method? I’m sure lots of people wanted to hear how much weight they can lose with this method. I’m currently doing this training.
Honestly, you can lose weight with any exercise or cardio training. Tak semestinya HIIT. The idea of HIIT is to help you burn more calories. How so? Think of it like a car going fast than slow …. fast than slow … all that accelerating, braking, accelerating etc increases the amount of FUEL the cars burns.
So when it comes to HIIT or cardio training, the objective is to burn as many calories as possible.

Hiit not only running,u can mix up with bodyweight training. The great hiit advantage is cost saving,time saving.
let say set 1minute workout then 30 sec rest,do for 10 set. It equal 15 minute workout. May burn 300-400 kcal it make u loss fat. Burpees is good workout for hiit also push up and pull up.mix it up. “If you do workout in low intensity it better do nothing at home”- coach greg glassman
