Relation between supplement and gout
Hello Kevin,
I’m about to start going to gym soon and I’ve done some basic-research about the supplements and others. I found out that there are some forumers pointing out about how supplements (they mentioned WHEY protein) could cause gout. It has freaked me out a bit since my supplement that I just bought contains whey protein. So, how real is it? What is your advice? Thanks!

Hello Niji,
Gout is mainly causes by a diet high in purine foods, such as seafood and meat, and meat organs.
Whey protein is a low fat dairy product and actually is recommended for those suffering from gout as it is LOW in purine.
So no worries there. But whatever it is, everything should be taken in moderation, including whey.
I personally use whey BEFORE and AFTER my workouts. Hope this helps.
