How to Choose a Treadmill?

Ok since I’m in the mood today (after changing my website’s layout alil…nice or not?), here a question from Mas:

    Hi…saya nak beli treadmill tapi tak tahu yang mana yang sesuai untuk kegunaan di rumah..pls kevin help me..target utama untuk fat burner dan cardio.

    Thanks for the question Mas. Ok treadmills memang are the most popular cardio equipment around. Probably coz running is the easiest form of exercise and kita semua tahu caranya.

    So here for some practical buying tips

    • Make sure you have enough space kat rumah so that tak menyusahkan nanti.
    • Don’t go for the cheapest and don’t go for the paling mahal…choose the one that you are most comfortable with.
    • Make sure you get a motorized treadmill. Jangan2 the ones where you need to drive it pulak
    • Brandwise, I’d go for any US based brand like Reebok, NordicTrack or Life Fitness. All you can get in Malaysia from any Fitness Concept outlet. The Reebok RBK-T885 is their best selling treadmill.
    • Before buying, cuba test and run on the treadmill terlebih dahulu.
    • Saiz ukuran: Carilah yang panjang 115 cm dan 40 cm lebar.
    • Optional things to look out for: side railing, computerized programs, heart rate monitor, downloadable tracks/programs, MP3 dan lain2

    i’ve been planning to buy a home treadmill and hv visited fitness concept stores to test a few.. and i was deciding on whether to get a proform sport or nordictrax elite.

    during a recent visit they showed me a reebok crosswalk, which i tried n kinda like too (plus its currently on sale @ rm5999) – making me even more confused which one i should get.

    need your opinion on which of these 3 are better. is the reebok one better compare to the other 2 becoz it has the upper body compoment to it? pls help asap. thanks.

      Hello Prisi,

      Takasima is a local brand if I am not mistakan … in terms of price it is definitely more affordable than US brands. In terms of quality or durability, I can't judge as I am not very familiar with their products.

    I think u better go for Reebok, Nordictrack, ProForm or BH. Depend on your budget. But BH is one of the lowest for ICON product I think. Nordictrack is for longlife plan. Big issue is support for your knee and your leg. Think about it. Broke the record not the leg. Hehe…

    hi kevin..sy ni sedang amik rawatan mata n makan prednisolone sejenis streroid utk pagi dan malam. prob sy selera makin btambh means berat naik la..mcm mana nak diet semasa pengambilan ubat ni. pagi kul 9 sy makan roti perang 3 keping + milo secawan..lunch nasi 2 senduk + sayur byk2 + ikan/ayam. ptg roti lg. malam kul8 nasi/mee + lauk. seboleh2nya saya kurangkan nasi. antara waktu makan utama saya makan buah2an byk coz lapar. harap bg advise.

      Hmmm I personally would first look at renowned brands like Reekok at Fitness Concept. Never compromise on quality. A budget of around RM4k+ can get a decent treadmill already.

    My name shuna, i lost 16kg with normal diet and exercise. i eat like usual,reduce portion and also choose the right food calorie (1200 prday). i'm happy coz i dun have to starving and enjoy healthy lifestyle. i burn my calorie using treadmill 3 to 4 times a week. what do u think about AIBI and Kettler treadmill?

      Hello Shuna,Thanks for your comment. Hmmm Aibi is a relatively new brand and does not quite have the worldwide experience as does Kettler.I personally would take a look at both brands, see which treadmills not only suit my budget but also look sturdy enough.Never compromise on quality … no matter how good the offer may be :)

    just to share, i’ve bought reebok v7 treadmill since last jan 11. value for money, i wld say. to fellow starter like me, pls seriously consider this model to ur shopping cart. the price seems small compared w the benefit gains in a long run.

    lowered my weight, cholesterol & energetic! i can run anytime i want.
    nothing beats me from being active & healthy now. kudos to kevin too!

    Hi Kevin,
    Do you know any shops or anyone who want to Rent out their treadmill, I have asked around 5 person who used to have Threadmil all of them said that their treadmill now is now become their hanger to put towels. So i decided to rent but a dont see any provider out there since i also have small kids at home i dont want threadmill permanently at my house and become their playground its dangerous.

    I have a problem with Endurance XP TRX-T2004. The motor control board was faulty, but after replacing it with a new board, the machine will not start. The display board functions well. Is there any initialising steps or codes to activate a new board?
