Before I comment on the movie, I would like to congratulate them for well….making money and a actually a decent home-grown film. Since lots of you wanna know what I think of JPB, here it goes….
I saw it with Intan back in February during a charity screening @ MidValley…..
- memang scary….bulu roma i pun naik jugak…hahahaha thats rare i tell you ;)
- sound effects of the hantu are good
- the plot? simple and straight to the point…….the end a bit confusing for me
- the cast…being close to Intan…naturally I want her to do her best & would be more critical of her than others…. how was her acting? the role of the dead sister suits her better….the character of seri (the other sis) kurang sesuai with her but she has made progress and am extremely proud of her. Aside from her..the only pelakon that menyerlah was the nenek (i dunno her name)…..comel je :D
- I thought the part when the guy said “…jangan pandang belakang” was pretty funny :D
- My expectation and review are based on the fact thats its a Malaysian movie.
I know people tend to criticize but all in all…I thought the movie was entertaining but I probably wouldn’t have watched it if it wasn’t for my girlfriend :D
Congrats Jangan Pandang Belakang :D

Kev
maybe you can ask Intan to get some acting tips from Mak Mah (Rosminah Sidek). Anyway.. Intan in that movie was okay for a newcomer.. :) But I agreed with you.. it was really scary… :)

Scaryla JPB. Jalan cerita yg simple, typical Malay cerita hantu masa kecik2 dulu.
But bro, sorry i have to say this…Intan needs to improve on her acting la.If not she’sjust another pretty face in the industry.

i agree with u on this. intan did better as the dead sister. i feel that as seri, she lacks the emotion, and her dialogue seems ‘scripted’..mcm baca skrip sgt. she doesnt look sad at all that the twin is dead- tragic death pulak tu. that said, for a newcomer, she did well.. altho bleh improve lagi tu :) kudos to all..

thanks for the great feedback everyone :D

hi kevin and all,
Kevin pls don’t lower down your standard juz becoz Intan is in the movie. Be frank to her, she can’t go far in acting for sure.
About the movie JPB, i had expected it to be better or above average from other malay movies as it comes from Ahmad Idham and Pierre ( being the ‘New Gen’ of the industry). However the result is not what i’ve expected. The script was so weak, and the background music and effect reminds me of ‘cerita hantu zaman 70′s’. Come on Idham i know you can do better than this. some of the flaws that I noticed are as follows:
a) In the first scene, the hand of that dead man (husband Nenek) moved while Pak Iman was covering his dead body. Mak!! orang mati boleh gerak tangan yee….don’t tell me the Director and Editor tak perasan!
b) Sri and her sister…..damn they are twins but why did they live in separate houses. The mother’s house was damn big and juz around the corner….but the dead sister live alone in a condo. Wah twin sisters tak ngam ka!
c) the fiance (pierre) are obviously devastated over the death of his girl but damn…her twin sister seemed to have no emotion effect at all. boleh pakai make-up and sexy dress lagi!
d)why the Hantu Raya needs to move its hands in that manner! so robotic and mechanical! no need to move hands lah….better still.
e) the scene that shows the “Three Stooges that was walking into the elevator was good but very bad make-up artist….if the makeup artist wasn’t good enuf, just cover those hantu’s face with rambut je…macam cerita ‘Ring’ tak payah nak tempek brown paper kat muka heheheee…..awful!
f)the scene where ‘cat farish’ got down to help Pierre was so stupid. Is it suppose to be a joke or what? mula mula serious voice tone tapi towards the end, suara macam kartun je esp bila cakap “OK” and he’s about to close the bonnet.
g) the distance between cat farish and pierre was merely 5-6 feet apart where the scene shows that Pierre was trying to start the car and cat farish was in front of the car. pierre by right could already guess that Cat farish was not looking at him but looking direct to the back seat. And at that time, Pierre buat buat bodoh macam ‘Hey i”m here” sort of thing. hehee….with that spooky ambience at that time plus he already eperienced macam macam, by right he could already guess that something was not right when he saw Cat Farish’s face gasping in horror.
h) my god…i can go on and on and on in criticizing the movie….but i have put this to an end anyway….
i) my only credit goes to Seniwati Rusminah Sidek, and yes her part was good esp the scene where she was inviting the thing to come in to the house……spooky!
