Massage and Spas – Good for health?

Spas and massage parlors (or parlours?) have been mushrooming all over Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia. I guess people go for various reasons (ehem ehem) but let me share some actual benefits for massages.

Health Benefits of Massage

Sure kita semua menikmati ketenangan and the relaxation of massages but they too have various physical, mental and emotional health benefits.

  • Reduces physical and emotional tension. We all know this 🙂
  • Improves blood circulation. This means more nutrients and oxygen get delivered to your body cells.
  • Mengurangkan tegangan otot and muscle spasms.
  • Calms your nervous system. Why? Coz your sense are at ease. Dunno whether this applies for thai massages that are oh-so painful hahaha.
  • Some studies claim that massages do assist in pain management for diseases such as arthritis and muscle spasms.

What about Sports Massages? Sama kah?

Well sports or therapeutic massages and aromatherapi massages are totally different. Sports massages are deep/soft tissues treatments to loosen stiff muscles, improve blood circulation and help athlete recuperate faster whilst reducing fatigue (the following day).
Sports massages should be performed by professionals…so although most, including hotel spas claim to offer sports massages, their “pemiciks” (masseuses) probably are not properly trained. Neither am I :D. Not really sure where in Malaysia you would find one. I’m sure Bukit Jalil should have some handy.

How Often Should You Get a Massage?

Depends on lots of factors. An athlete obviously has different needs than say someone yang tak

bersukan and just wants to relax and destress. Stress also plays a role….banyak kerja? You’d probably want to “relax” more often.

Cedera atau Injured?

Kalau anda cerdera or you have suffered some kind of sprain or sprain, DON’T massage unless you know what you are doing. In other words, get consultation for a qualified physician. Typicall if you are injured, use the RICE rule untuk 24jam yang pertama. Selepas itu, MICE may apple. R-Rest, M-Massage/Mobilization.

Urut Batin for Sexual Performance?

Hahaha thats all crap lah. Can’t believe people actually believe it has some kind of herbal/medical benefit. Why mention it here? For search engine optimization only. So if you found this post while searching for urut batin malaysia or kuala lumpur….then faham-faham sendiri!
